When we saw Sandy’s bad girl makeover at the end of Grease – we knew that we were meant for an edgier road. Or at least one filled with some red mules and black leather. As seen in this iconic scene, there is just something so enticing about about turning from sweet to sassy with a few minor wardrobe adjustments. And just like that, reinventing yourself is as easy as throwing on some spandex hot pants. If you’re looking to try something a little more daring this summer, do we have the stud for you. Literally; we’re talking about studding. Easy to do inexpensive, adding a few studs to your favorite jeans, jacket or purse is a great way to get an updated look without buying something new. The best part? Studs come in about a million shapes, sizes and colors – minis, squares, cones or gold and silver – so you can customize down to the smallest detail. In honor of this must-do DIY, we added a few accoutrements to our beloved BCBGeneration Jirt shirt. Soft as your favorite jeans, the Jirt is a simple statement piece that works perfectly as a coverup or light jacket. Add some studs, and even Bret Michaels will be jealous. Follow our simple steps below – and when you’re done enter our contest for YOUR chance to win this customized creation. Scroll down and get yourself studded!
The first step is simple, decide where you want to stud (we picked the pocket).
Next, gently poke the prongs of your stud through the fabric. Items like leather or heavier fabric aren’t as easy to get through, so a fabric punch may be required.
Continue to stud as you like! It’s easier to keep your lines straight if you’re following a seam or have a pre-drawn pattern.
Finishing is easy! Just add the studs you want until your entire pocket is covered.
And voila! The final product is cute, easy and could be yours! For your chance to win this studded JIRT leave your name and email in the comment section below. We will pick one winner next week!
Now YOU tell us: What would you stud?
